CA-IV Business Meeting
Saturday, September 24, 2011
Rancho Cucamonga, CA
The meeting was called to order at 9:02 a.m. by President Wally Rice, with a pledge of allegiance, followed by an opening prayer by Chaplain Robert Winkler. Wally then had members present identify themselves and their departmental affiliation.
REPORTS
President Rice explained that with Al Mendoza’s transfer to Cal 24, we still had no replacement; however, he was actively exploring our options and pursuing a replacement. As checks were being received, he was forced to open a new account, but was requesting an audit of our finances. In lieu of an official Treasurer to submit a financial report, he provided the following facts: He received a check from Mr. Mendoza in the amount of $11,935.22. This included $500.00 for the Fallen Officer’s fund, $157.50 for the most recent 50-50 receipts, and $250 for the Twin Pines fund. Checks of $250 had been written for the Law Ride, and $500 for Rich & Sherry Widmeier. A motion was made by Al Irwin, seconded by Joe Delgado, that the report be accepted, which was passed by a vote of the members present.
As Secretary Scurti was on vacation during the July 23 meeting, notes were taken by another member; however, as they have not yet been submitted, they are not available for submission to the club. As the August Meeting was pre-empted by the Julian ride, there are no minutes for the month of the August.
Wally also reported that the next unofficial meeting is set for October 12, that the Board meeting - to which all are invited to attend - is October 19, & that the next chapter meeting will be held on October 22.
Wally further reported that the Twin Pines Ranch Christmas event is scheduled for December 3, on which more information will be forthcoming. He also reported that he had received a call from Rich Widmeier, stating that he would like to again host the Christmas party at his house, which is tentatively set for December 10.
Ride coordinator Eric Reed reported that we had an excellent showing for our Julian ride, which was attended by members of Chapters 24 and 6. He also provided a report on the Law Ride, which also had representation from our chapter. He further reported that Chapter 6 was holding their annual poker ride at the same time as our current meeting, which precluded many of our members from attending and support of their function. He also had several flyers at home for upcoming rides, which will be subsequently announced.
Quartermaster Phil DuBois reported that he currently has $1730.00 in his account, from which $536.00 had previously been spent on supplies. Of this was an expenditure for our new white, short-sleeve T-shirt.
OLD BUSINESS
Secretary Scurti reported that President Rice had previously given him the assignment of disbursing the membership cards received from International, during the past two years, but which had not been collected by the respective members at previous meetings for various reasons. Scurti reported that all had been mailed out to the individual members, at their addresses of record, and that only one had been returned. The Secretary declined reimbursement.
Wally noted that Brian Boyd, an active Riverside County Probation Officer had been unable to attend many meetings due to work and his children’s sports activities, but that he had been actively working for the good of the Twin Pines Ranch, including a previous fishing event at Lake Skinner. He and Brian also reported on the upcoming combined music and Breast Cancer fund-raising event at the Ranch, for which he was actively seeking participation and selling tickets at the meeting. Tickets could also be purchased by mail, with checks sent to his attention.
An auction was held for items donated by several members. A new size 48 Blue Knights vest was sold for $40; a new Harley Davidson ½ helmet with an American flag emblazoned on it went for $32.50; and a sissy-bar backpack went for $20. And finally, lucky member Wayne Kubicek won the 50-50 drawing, in the amount of $52.50.
At approximately 10:15 a.m., a motion to adjourn was made by Russ Golish, seconded by Al Irwin, and carried by the members present.
