CA-IV Business Meeting

Saturday, October 22, 2011

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. by President Wally Rice, with a pledge of allegiance, followed by an opening prayer by Chaplain Robert Winkler. Wally welcomed back member Richard Widmeier, who was recovering from a serious medical issue, then had members present identify themselves and their departmental affiliation.

REPORTS

President Rice reported that there was no Treasurer’s report as we had not elected or appointed one as of the last meeting.  However, member Terry Rammell has agreed to accept the position, and our Board Members have voted to authorized his holding the position until 2012, at which time a future election will determine the next officer holder.

President Rice also announced that our chapter has received a check from Riverside County Supervisor Ashley’s office in the amount $4,000.00, for our Twin Pines charity fund.

He further announced that the next unofficial meeting would be held on November 9, the Board meeting will be on November 16, and that our general meeting will be held on the 26th.  The Twin Pines charity event will be held on December 3rd, and the Christmas party will be held on December 10th, which will pre-empt the regular meeting for that month.

Ride coordinator Eric Reed reported that eight bikes showed up for the Beatty ride, and that the riders experienced good weather both ways.  The hospitality of the venue was good and they enjoyed a nice, “Denny’s-style” buffet.  Part of the route taken was on an old, deteriorating road, which may not last much longer due to a lack of maintenance, so they may be some of its last users.

He related that next weekend Chapter 10 will be having a ride to El Centro, and that some Chapter 6 members plan to accompany them.  He and Russ Golish also plan to make the ride.

Eric further reported that he is planning a poker run for our chapter, to be held some time next year.  He needs volunteers, and will be subsequently sending out an e-mail asking for help with the logistics, and the planned four to five stops envisioned.

Quartermaster Phil DuBois reported that he currently has $1194.00 in his account, from which there has been no expenditures since his last report.  He has received $204.00 from sales, which brings his current balance to $1398.

OLD BUSINESS

President Rice had previously reported that our Board had authorized the appointment of Terry Rammell to the position of Treasurer.  Russ Golish made a motion, seconded by Bill Waterson, that his appointment be authorized by the general membership, which was passed by a vote of the members present.

A brief discussion was held regarding attendance at the Twin Pines music and breast cancer fund raising event, and a past Concert Under the Stars summer event. It was decided that we might propose again attending the latter next year.

It was announced that, according to his wife Judy, member Wayne Kubicek was in a medically induced coma subsequent to surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, 1/3 of his stomach, and part of his esophagus. Members have been supportive of he and Judy, and praying for his recovery.

Richard Widmeier thanked the membership for the check he received from our chapter and reported that it is being used for medication he could not otherwise afford.  He also announced that he and his wife Sherri will be hosting the Christmas party at their home again this year, and the theme will be similar that in the past.

Another lucky waitress won the 50-50 drawing, in the amount of $50.00, and at approximately 10:15 a.m., a motion to adjourn was made by Russ Golish, seconded by Joe Delgado, and carried by the members present.
