REPORTS
Newly appointed Treasurer, Terry Rammell reported that our funds are now with Alta Credit Union. We have a balance of $9505.78, with $361.00 in checking, $2180.01 in the Fallen Officer fund, and $309.77 in the Twin Pines account. A motion to accept the report was made by Chris Woodin, seconded by Sam Walls, and approved by the members present.
Secretary Nicholas Scurti then provided a report on the minutes from the October meeting. Richard Bennett made a motion to accept the report, which was seconded by Joe Delgado, and approved by the members present.
Safety Officer Richard Bennett provided a synopsis of Rocky Hamilton’s motorcycle accident. Essentially, the incident occurred during the hours of darkness, when Rocky was stopped in a left turn lane. A car approached rapidly, slowed at the last minute, but failed to stop in time to avoid a collision. Richard stressed situational awareness, personal safety measures, and other considerations by which to avoid injury.
Quartermaster Phil DuBois reported a previous balance of $13987.00, from which there has been no expenditures since his last report. He has received $146.00 from sales, which brings his current balance to $1544.00.
President Rice reported that our Board of Directors met on November 15, at which time he appointed member Joe Delgado to the position of Vice-President, to replace Jeff Talbott. This action was pursuant to our standing bylaws.
A discussion was held regarding our policy of disbursement of funds to sick or injured members. This led to a motion by Joe Delgado that we revisit the “Fallen Officer” language in our bylaws to determine if it needs further clarification or modification. Members Albert Cox, Chris Woodin, Frank Velasquez, and Phil DuBois agreed to meet, confer and report back on the matter.
President Rice reminded members that the Twin Pines Christmas party was being held on the following Saturday December 2, with registration at 9:00 a.m., an escorted ride to the facility starting at 10:00 a.m., and the event expected to conclude at approximately 2:00 p.m. This year a donation of $25.00 would be asked from riders and $5.00 for passengers.
He further announced that the next unofficial meeting would be held on January 11, 2012, a Board Member meeting date to be announced, and that our general meeting will be held on the 28th.
Ride coordinator Eric Reed will be coordinating and advising on the date of the annual Palm Springs brotherhood gathering which occurs on the last weekend in January. This is projected to occur on the 27-29th on which he will provide further information as the event nears. He also reported that the Southwest/West Coast combined conference is being held commencing in Provo, Utah on June 16. It will have a “moving” venue, covering three days at different locations, and touring beautiful backcountry roads better known to locals. The fee will be $155, but includes a dinner and three catered lunches.
Treasurer Terry Rammell reminded the membership that their 2012 dues are due, in the amount of $40.00. Of this amount, $25 goes to Blue Knights International and $15 goes to our chapter, BK IV. Terry asked that you mail your dues to him and he will forward a chapter check to International.
A lucky member won $86.00 in the 50-50 drawing, and at approximately 10:10 a.m., a motion to adjourn was made by Richard Bennett, seconded by Chris Woodin, and carried by the members present.
